Sunday's run was unintentionally naughty. I'd planned to do 5 miles, so that I wasn't increasing my weekly mileage by more than 10%, but, well I got lost.
This is the part of the route where it all went wrong...
So I was supposed to run down Browns lane (on the bottom), turn right, and run for a really long time in a straight line, before turning right at Pikers Lane (at the top). It's a route I used to run a lot, and I've lived in kind of this area all my life. So how come I've never noticed the earlier right before? The one down Hawkes Mill Lane?
I was distracted by some other runners in front of me (I was trying to see if I could match their pace and wasn't really paying attention) so I hadn't kept track of how far I'd run up the hill, and my leg was hurting. I'd got half way down Hawkes Mill before realising I was lost (and there was a big hill there too!). Then, stupidly, I got to the end of Hawkes Mill Lane, got my bearings, and decided to take a left UP Wall Hill Road to get back to my planned route, which added the extra distance. (It would have been more but I took a shortcut through some fields later on).
Anyway it was a rubbish run timewise, and health wise because of my foot. But a nice run for distance, seeing new places, and I bumped into an old friend from work as well and we had a quick chat :)
